BAR/BAT MITZVAH
LESSONS
“Bar/Bat Mitzvah” translates literally as "son/daughter of the commandment."
A boy attains his religious maturity and becomes responsible to
fulfill all Torah commandments (mitzvot) at the age of 13.
A girl becomes equally responsible one year earlier, at the age of 12.
This occasion is cause for great celebration and gratitude to G‑d,
and hence the Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
One becomes Bar/Bat Mitzvah automatically on one's
twelfth or thirteenth birthday, with or without a party!
This can be a daunting ordeal or a joyful, memorable and meaningful experience.
Chabad of Patchogue can help to prepare for the transition
to Jewish adulthood in a relaxed and friendly way.
We assist in making this time meaningful and inspiring,
o your child's Jewish identity will be reinforced
and he/she will be proud of his/her heritage.
